The school went into lockdown from around 10:45 a.m. to 11:01 a.m. “following a directive from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD)” according to an email sent to the school community from the district’s Associate Superintendent Bryan Marcus.
SDPD determined the threat was neither credible nor from an individual in the local area, according to Principal Rob Coppo.
“Students and staff responded incredibly well,” Coppo said. “Everything worked exactly as it should to keep you guys safe.”
During fourth period, Coppo and administration checked in on classrooms. He clarified that currently, drills only occur during Student Connection time. In the case that there is an active shooter on campus, Coppo said the shooter’s appearance and location would be broadcast via the school’s intercommunication system.
Details regarding the directive remain under investigation.
