Autumn Bowman, a Junior and new student to Torrey Pines, is beyond excited to further explore her passion in journalism after being a News Editor for the Raven Review at Canyon Crest Academy. Bowman is an ambitious and driven writer, ready to cover whatever news is presented to her, and is more than willing to take on the new and exciting challenges that the Falconer has to offer. She is more than excited to form new relationships while embracing her passion this year and in her final year of high school. Outside of school, Bowman dedicates her time to swimming, as she is a competitive swimmer, and managing her non-profit organizations that she operates with one of her close friends, regarding English education and reading and writing comprehension for children in South East Asia. Regarding her interest in journalism and writing, she also competes in poetry and writing competitions outside of school. Bowman loves travelling, listening to music, drawing, reading, spending time with friends and family, and of course, spending hours at the beach in the water or tanning. She can’t wait to make this school year a memorable and enjoyable one.
An equal parts music and riddle enthusiast, junior Claire Zhou enjoys listening to music by Clairo, Big Thief or Adrianne Lenker while solving daily New York Times puzzles. For her second year on the Falconer, Claire looks forward to maintaining the Falconer publication website with the addition of crosswords and other design features while continuing to cover stories on the Carmel Valley community. Outside of the newsroom, she is involved in the TPHS Math Club and Peer Tutoring. When she’s not in school, Claire enjoys reading work by Paige Lewis, attempting to write poetry, and growing her collection of annotated crunchy literature. Otherwise, Claire can be found volunteering at a local senior center or binging Gilmore Girls. Someday, she will attend culinary school with her younger sister.
Now as a Graphics and Multimedia editor, Jaewon continues his second year in the Falconer in the field of graphic design to make the newspaper even better than last year. Since designing for the stories of this newspaper has been one of the greatest pleasures in his school life, Jaewon is determined to cooperate with other staff members to make this year’s Falconer as brilliant and visually appealing as last year, hopefully, even better than last year. Now that he learned lots of things from his successes and mistakes from last year, he looks forward to sharing his experiences and techniques with the incoming members of the Falconer and assisting fellow editors to publish the stories while maintaining friendship with them as always. Furthermore, he is eager to recruit more designers for the newspaper team to increase the quality of overall designs and get new ideas that will support the Falconer’s design to become more complete. Outside of the Falconer, he is a biology lover who likes to draw animals and small organisms, and he is starting a new club which makes children’s books for the youngsters who don’t have the basic concept of the field of biology. As he enters his junior year, Jaewon is more than excited to work with our new members and learn lots of new things and become a supporter while seeking for new designers, ultimately aiming for enhancing the visual elements of the Falconer.
