Autumn Bowman, a junior and new student to the school, is beyond excited to further explore her passion for journalism after being a News Editor for the Raven Review at Canyon Crest Academy. Bowman is an ambitious and driven writer, ready to cover whatever news is presented to her, and is more than willing to take on the new and exciting challenges that the Falconer has to offer. She is more than excited to form new relationships while embracing her passion this year and in her final year of high school. Outside of school, Bowman dedicates her time to swimming and managing her nonprofit organizations that she operates with one of her close friends, regarding English education, reading and writing comprehension for children in Southeast Asia. Regarding her interest in journalism and writing, she also competes in poetry and writing competitions outside of school. Bowman loves travelling, listening to music, drawing, reading, spending time with friends and family, and of course, spending hours at the beach in the water or tanning. She can’t wait to make this school year a memorable and enjoyable one.
An equal parts music and riddle enthusiast, junior Claire Zhou enjoys listening to music by Clairo, Big Thief or Adrianne Lenker while solving puzzles on The New York Times. For her second year on the Falconer, Zhou looks forward to maintaining the Falconer publication website with the addition of crosswords and other design features while continuing to cover stories on the Carmel Valley community. Outside of the newsroom, she is involved in the Peer Tutoring and the school’s math club. When she’s not in school, Zhou enjoys reading work by Paige Lewis, attempting to write poetry and growing her collection of annotated crunchy literature. Otherwise, she can be found volunteering at a local senior center or binging Gilmore Girls. Someday, Zhou will attend culinary school with her younger sister.
Now as a Graphics and Multimedia editor, Jaewon Jang continues his second year in the Falconer in graphic design. Since designing for the stories of this newspaper has been one of the greatest pleasures in his school life, Jang is determined to cooperate with other staff members to make this year’s Falconer as brilliant and visually appealing as last year, hopefully, even better than last year. Now that he learned lots of things from his successes and mistakes from last year, he looks forward to sharing his experiences and techniques with the incoming members of the Falconer and assisting fellow editors to publish the stories while maintaining friendship. Furthermore, he is eager to recruit more designers for the newspaper team to increase the quality of overall designs and get new ideas that will support the Falconer’s design to become more complete. Outside of the Falconer, he is a biology lover who likes to draw animals and small organisms. He is starting a club to make children’s books for the youngsters who do not have exposure to biology. As he enters his junior year, Jang is more than excited to work with new members and learn lots of new things and become a supporter while seeking for new designers, ultimately aiming for enhancing the visual elements of the Falconer.
