Weekend one of Coachella is notorious for headliners bringing out exactly who the fans want to see, and this year did not disappoint. Headliners Sabrina Carpenter (Friday night), Justin Bieber (Saturday night) and Karol G (Sunday night) set the tone for a weekend packed with high energy, surprise appearances and moments that instantly made the crowd go wild.
Friday night really set the bar high with Sabrina Carpenter headlining her first show at the festival, delivering one of the most memorable sets of the day by creating a dreamy, cinematic atmosphere that had the entire crowd dancing and singing along. She was not the only one to draw a massive crowd the first night. Artists like Luke Dean, Disclosure, Levity, Blood Orange and Central Cee got the crowd hyped and ready to dance, all with great sets. What really set the tone of night one was John Summit’s surprise set; the atmosphere was different from a typical scheduled set feeling less polished, more spontaneous, and way more electric.
“My favorite performer was John Summit because I love his music,” Camryn Cassell (12) said. “It was my first time seeing him in concert and the stage he performed [on] was super cool.”
Overall, night one played out amazingly and really got everyone excited for the rest of the festival.
Saturday night, containing a lineup with Justin Bieber’s name in bold print, it was full of throwbacks. The lineup besides Bieber was slightly mid in some students opinions.

“As a true and true Belieber, I was really upset when I could not attend Coachella and watching the livestream made me so jealous,” Madison Davis (12) said.
Bieber took the crowd away with the many throwbacks included in his sets, even singing over “baby Justin” at some points.
“His set was absolutely incredible, and it was obvious that the crowd thought so too,” Davis said.
Other artists in night two also made it great, such as The Strokes, SOMBR and Addison Rae. The rest of the lineup is lesser-known, although they definitely raised their status after their Coachella performances.
The last night of the festival, night three, headlined Karol G and a lineup containing Young Thug, Laufey, BUNT and others. Night three was nothing major compared to the first two nights, although it was a nice, chill closing act.
“Something I really liked about the festival besides music was everyone’s outfits,” Cassell said. “It was super cool to see how creative everyone was.”
Beyond the headliners and performances, weekend one of Coachella was filled with spectacular outfits and fun moments that truly define Coachella. Whether it’s barricade or live-streaming from your own home, weekend one was definitely one to remember.
