Alex Consani: a transgender modeling superstar making waves in the modeling industry. Cosani walks for major brands like Chanel, Stella McCartney and Victoria’s Secret. At just 12 years old, Cosani began her work in the modeling industry. She gained attention for her “striking features and unique presence,” according to The Fashion Awards. Consani first grew in popularity through TikTok during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. She started posting makeup tutorials, catching people’s attention because of her authentic sense of humor and relatability.
Consani continues to pave the way for transgender women in the modeling industry. She was the first transgender woman to sign with a modeling agency, the first to win Model of the Year, and one of the first to walk in a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She uses her platform to inform, encourage and support others through their transitions, and even used her award acceptance speech to call for greater LGBTQ+ rights and societal change. She began her speech by thanking her parents for their support in her transition and encouraged others to extend the same kindness and openness towards those going through similar experiences.
“Now more than ever it’s an important conversation that should be had about how to truly support one another, especially those who have been made to feel insignificant,” Cosani said in her speech. “Change is more than possible; it’s needed.”
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Cosani’s energy is described as “infectious.” The article highlights Consani’s humility which shines through her newfound passion for skateboarding, compared to her eccentric and somewhat prestigious runway presence.
Despite her modeling successes, she remains authentic and relatable to her audience on social media. Cosani shares her fashion and personality through TikTok, where she has more than 4 million followers and countless viral videos. Her content consists of high-fashion editorials, candid memories and effortful commentary on important current events. Through her platform and her background as a transgender woman, she’s become an inspiring figure, breaking barriers in the modeling industry.
Beyond social media and modeling, Cosani expresses interest in expanding her career into film and television. She was in Charli XCX‘s music video for “360” in 2024, and the “2023 Victoria Secret: The Tour ‘23”movie.
Cosani’s participation in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show was a huge landmark and empowering move for transgender women, especially given former CEO Ed Razek’s past comments about excluding them from the brand’s shows.
“It’s crazy, though, because I didn’t even realize I was the first to walk until after I walked the show,” Cosani said in her interview on Teen Vogue. “I thought that Valentina had already walked a while ago, so having that in my mind took the pressure away.”
Consani is an advocative and eccentric being who has a big media presence containing all aspects of her personality. Through her platform she is able to bring attention to LGBTQ+ inclusivity, and transgender acceptance throughout the industry of modeling.
